ROTW: loving thunder - Photographing the Wild

LOVING THUNDER - Photographing the Wild (Hot Dog City Record Co.)

Bass driven psychedelic math-rock? Two men trying to create a progressive, more sonic version of The Black Keys? Featuring members from Cobra High and Death Wish Kids, loving thunder (either spelled in no caps or all CAPS) were a side project from Seattle that spewed epic compositions based on the raw components of bass, drums, and vocals. Photographing The Wild had help in the studio as well with plenty of reverb, effects and synths that compliment a few of these 8 tracks. With song titles like "Spirit Eaters", "Magic Wand", and "Satan's Lullabye", one would think that LOVING THUNDER were the latest bass tremblers to hit the stoner rock scene, especially with the Iommi-inspired riffs found in "Satan's Lullabye". However, these cats annouced their dissolve earlier this year so there will be no such introduction to any such clique.

Check out "Nervous Game", which takes listeners on a voyage through the supernova of self consciousness. Definitely some heavy sounds found on this album.
