ANTI-SNOB RADAR: Indie Rock News From All Over The Web, All Around The World (10/08/08)

  • Veteran Scandinavian glam-punks Plan Nine will be doing a free show in London on November 24th. It will be held at the Barfly (Camden Town). I am still waiting for these cats to hit America, so if you are reading this in England - GO TO THIS - and please let me know how awesome the show was. Other UK dates can be found at the official Plan Nine Website.

  • Devo is doing it again. This time performing in their hometown of Akron, OH for the first time in 30 years. The show will be October 17th at the Akron Civic Theatre. These recent appearances align with the band's sub-campaign for Presidential Candidate Barack Obama appropriately titled DEVOBAMA.

  • The Dandy Warhols released a trailer video for the Breathe Easy benefit album that they have been coordinating at their own studio in Portland. The list of guest artists contributing is extremely impressive (J. Mascis, David J of Bauhaus/Love & Rockets, The Raveonettes, Spoon, dozens more). The concept involves a collective effort between some basic tracks laid down by the Dandies and new spontaneous ideas overdubbed by guest artists (which were usually done during brief downtimes between Northwest tour stops from the last two years). Beginning October 21, 2008, the first of 12 tracks will be sold digitally at specified Breathe Easy sites and embedded stores, and 100% of profits will go to the Three Rivers Land Conservancy. Check out the video below:

  • The move is officially getting started for Antique Scream. Last Friday the band headlined their "FAREWELL ARIZONA/CD RELEASE" Show at Hollywood Alley in Mesa and will begin a U.S. Tour October 18th in Albuquerque that will end in their future hometown of Seattle sometime in November. Their official myspace page has all the tour dates so you can check out first hand the band's groovy style of psychedelic proto-punk. Below is a great shot from their last performance as an Phoenix band. Check out their write-up in the Phoenix New Times.
